I have no emotional attachment to this property… Why?

I have no emotional attachment to this property… Why?

I hear this statement regularly and wonder why? I notice many emotional attachments to homes and properties as they pass though my working day. Many make me smile, like yesterday.

I completed two viewings with two young couples looking for a home that will enable them to start a family in an environment that has the potential to create happiness.

The home we viewed is currently owned by a retired couple who have lived in this property happily for over the past decade.

As we toured the home it was clear this has been a happy home that holds an emotional attachment to its owners however, also showed a potential happy future for its next custodian. Yes custodian, not owner, vendor or purchaser. We all just pass through time, enjoying and experiencing the world that has been left to us by previous generations. Relying on them to leave a legacy for the next generation to enjoy. This is true of property and homes that will outlast many of us.

So how was this happiness clear for us all to see?

As you walk towards this three bed detached family home you notice the lawn has been cut and the driveway is clean. As you enter the hallway you notice the hand prints of the grandchildren, the picture of the great grandparents, the beautiful moment a young grandchild holds hands with her grandfather and just walks away from her mother as she captures this magical moment on her camera.

As you move through the home you can feel the coziness of the front lounge, the open plan family environment that has been created in the kitchen / diner and the fun that must have been had in the summers in the garden.

The property has been so well cared for by the current owners. The property gave us a sense of happiness, safety, comfort and stability during the viewings that has been created by the current custodians during their tenure.

A true emotional attachment between between bricks, mortar, flesh and bone.

The feedback from the two young couples was warm, positive and complimentary. Feedback that brought a warm, happy smile from the owners showing that as custodians of this home they had done a great job!

Oh, and one of the couples made an offer which was accepted. So in a few months time a new chapter begins for this family home on Warwick Road. May its continuing story be filled with many new happy memories rather than no emotional attachment.
