Brighten up your home for selling

During January if your home is for sale or you are thinking of putting it on the market brightening it up may not be top of your priority list but potential buyers will appreciate it. Without spending too much money you can create a fresher look.

Add a lick of paint
Don’t underestimate the value of tidying up paintwork. If your home is clean and neutral perhaps paint a feature wall in a brighter spring colour. This will breathe new life into a tired looking living or dining room.

Sort the garden
Notwithstanding the snow and ice some of us are getting right now, think about what you could do on a budget to tidy up the garden. Perhaps create a decked area in that summer sunny spot, pull out that weeded area and create a raised bed or put up a nice archway that you can trail fragrant summer blooms over.

Accessorize
The best dressed rooms create a great impression. Simply updating the soft furnishings in your bedroom could add a chic touch to a tired looking room. A nice rug, new bedding and curtains and voila. You could even get adventurous and add a lick of paint to that old wooden furniture to give it a new look. A fresh green plant, a nice new canvas on the wall and a few candles add an extra touch.

Tidy Up
We don’t mean a general tidy up here. If you are thinking of moving then tackling that paperwork cabinet is something you should do sooner rather than later. It is a good mental clearing out exercise too. See what you can recycle and what you need to keep and you’ll find that the pile left is much smaller than you considered it would be.
