Haddon is a small village located to the south of Peterborough, in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles south of the city centre and is part of the civil parish of Castor. Haddon is a quiet, rural village surrounded by countryside and farmland, with a population of around 400 people. Historical Development of Haddon

The village has a long history, with evidence of Roman and Anglo-Saxon settlements in the area. In the Domesday Book of 1086, the village was recorded as “Hadone”. Throughout the Middle Ages, Haddon was a small agricultural community, with a manor house and a parish church. The manor house, Haddon Hall, was built in the 12th century and was owned by the Haddon family until the 16th century, when it was sold to the Vernon family. The hall underwent several changes over the centuries, with the addition of new wings and the renovation of the existing structure. During the 17th and 18th centuries, Haddon was known for its textile industry, particularly for the production of lace. Many of the village’s cottages were home to lace makers, who would produce lace by hand using bobbins and pillows. In the 19th century, Haddon became known for its brick making industry, with several brick kilns operating in the area. The village also had a windmill, which was used for grinding corn.
