This Mental Health Week, we at Tortoise Property are taking a moment to support and recognise the critical work of Mind, a charity dedicated to mental health support and awareness. Mind’s vision is clear: “We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.” Their mission is to offer advice and empower those facing mental health challenges while campaigning tirelessly to improve services, raise awareness, and foster understanding.
Mind’s Commitment
Mind’s values are the driving force behind their impactful initiatives:
- Open: Reaching out to anyone in need.
- Together: Building strength through partnerships.
- Responsive: Acting on the needs expressed by the community.
- Independent: Advocating fearlessly.
- Unstoppable: Never relenting in their mission.
Their goals are designed to address various aspects of mental health:
- Staying Well: Preventing mental health issues before they arise.
- Empowering Choice: Helping individuals make informed decisions about their recovery.
- Improving Services and Support: Ensuring timely and effective help.
- Enabling Social Participation: Opening doors for full societal participation.
- Removing Inequality of Opportunity: Combating discrimination alongside mental health challenges.
- Organisational Excellence: Maximising resources through a culture of excellence.
Remembering Matt Berry
Today, in conjunction with Mental Health Week, Tortoise Property supported by the Hampton Walking Football Team sponsorship for charity scheme is making a donation of £300 to Mind. This contribution is in loving memory of Matt Berry, who tragically took his own life nearly two years ago now. Matt, the son of one of our close friends, had a promising future. He was successful, owning a home, enjoying a fulfilling career, and surrounded by friends and family.
Despite what many would call success, Matt struggled with mental health challenges that he felt he could not overcome.
Matt’s story is a poignant reminder that mental health issues do not discriminate based on success, wealth, or status. They can affect anyone, at any point, regardless of their background or achievements.
A Call to Action
This donation and our reflection during Mental Health Week underline the importance of support, awareness, and proactive care in mental health. We encourage everyone to be more attentive, compassionate, and understanding towards others’ struggles. Let us cherish and enjoy our moments with loved ones but remain vigilant and supportive during times of challenge.
Join Us in Support
We invite you to join us in supporting Mind. Together, we can contribute to a society where mental health is prioritised, and everyone receives the respect and help they deserve. Let’s work towards a future where no one has to face mental health challenges alone.
